   Architect
   Rick Mather is known as an uncompromising new modernist. He studied from 1961 to 1967 at the Architectural Association in London before working on housing schemes for Lyons Israel Ellis and the London Borough of Southwark. He set up his own practice in 1972. His best-known works are the Peter Eaton bookshop in Holland Park (1974), the rebuilding of the Architectural Association (1977–82), a computer science building at the University of East Anglia (1981–5), and the Zen Chinese restaurants in Hampstead (1985) and Mayfair (1987).
